For Honey Chilli Lotus Stem
2 1/4 cups peeled and thinly sliced lotus stem
1 1/2 tbsp cornflour
oil for deep-frying
1 tbsp finely chopped garlic (lehsun)
1/2 cup finely chopped spring onions whites and greens
1 1/2 tsp dry red chilli flakes (paprika)
2 tbsp tomato ketchup
2 tbsp hot and sweet chilli sauce
1 tsp red chilli sauce
1 tsp soy sauce
2 tbsp honey
salt to taste
For The Garnish
1 tsp black sesame seeds (kala til)
1 tbsp finely chopped spring onion greens

how to deep fry lotus stem
- To make honey chilli lotus stem recipe, wash and peel the lotus stem.
- Thinly slice them using a sharp knife.
- Transfer them into a deep bowl.
- Add 1½ tbsp of ccornflour.
- Add little salt to taste.
- Toss well.
- Heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan and deep-fry.
- Deep-frythe lotus stems in 2 batches till they turn golden brown and crispy from all the sides.
- Drain on an absorbent paper and keep aside.

- Heat 1½ tbsp oil in a broad non-stick pan.
- Add 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic.
- Add 1½ tsp dry red chilli flakes (paprika).
- Add ½ cup finely chopped spring onion whites and greens.
- Sauté on a medium flame for 1 minute.
- Add 2 tbsp tomato ketchup.
- Add 2 tbsphot and sweet chilli sauce.
- Add 1 tsp red chilli sauce.
- Add 1 tsp soy sauce.
- Add 2 tbsp honey.
- Add little salt to taste.
- Mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute.
- Add the deep-fried lotus stems.
- Mix gently and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
- Serve honey chilli lotus stem recipe immediately garnished with black sesame seeds and spring onion greens.

Wow.. this recipe is just superb.. it so crunchy.. and coated with sweet and spicy sauce.. i have never tried lotus stem.. but this recipe is really very very tasty.. I have loved this recipe.. will definitely make this for my guest and serve them as starter..
