I hired Oliver Beer of Bauhaus Construction after he initially did a ceiling repair for me at a condo I own in Manchester. The ceiling repair was complicated (see prior review on this project) and Oliver fixed the ceiling with a creative solution that the other contractors bidding didn't think of. Price wise, Bauhaus was more competitive than the other contractors. Based on my first experience with Bauhaus (Oliver) and after having numerous conversations about the rest of the condo which needed to essentially had to be gutted, I hired Oliver for this major project which took about 3 months to complete. Oliver works by himself, but he does the work of two people. The rehab project was complicated. The condo unit had extensive smoke damage which was a major challenge. The bathrooms needed gutting, pretty much new everything in the condo. Other contractors would have changed me $50-60k, but Oliver was not half that. Oliver is perfectionist with everything he does. The complicated paint job required as many as 5 coats of paint (on top of primer) and the popcorn ceiling was especially difficult. When the painting was done, the condo was unrecognizable from where we started. Along the way, Oliver had numerous design ideas that would not look great, but would cost effective. Oliver constantly went the extra mile searching out deals on appliances, cabinets, fixtures, tile and hardwood floors. Oliver used his many contacts to address unexpected issues that arose during the project (gas line issues, electrical issues etc). Overall, Oliver was phenomenal in all aspects of the project. I have recommended Oliver to 3 friends (and I never have recommended a contractor to anyone). Also, Oliver is going to finish my basem*nt in my own home (the condo is rental unit)

I hired Tom, owner of TRP, to do a 2.5 bathroom remodel at my mom's house. Let me preface my review with this: she had not showered in her house for over a year b/c of leaks (she showered at the gym daily!), out bathrooms were original from the 1970's, and we had one working toilet (out of three in the house). This was a big job of unidentified leaks, an elderly woman who is afraid of strangers in her house, and clueless clients (notably: me). Tom took the time to come and evaluate the job -- taking measurements and patiently going over what he thought the work would entail. Being on a budget, he was able to recommend options for us and though I was stressed initially about having to go and pick out things like faucets, shower stalls, flooring -- I wound up really enjoying this b/c Tom was patient and would help guide me along the way. I didn't feel lost despite the challenges of one small/odd shaped master bath b/c Tom would try his best to help me out in terms of what I needed to look for. In the midst of our job, which was going *on* schedule (late one day b/c the inspector couldn't get here on time due to the town inspector's schedule, NOT TRP!), we had a family emergency. I was afraid to tell Tom for fear he'd say "we have a schedule, this has to be done" because we were in no shape to manage the renovation w/ this family emergency--and I was worried about having to explain why we needed to stop a bit. Tom's immediate response was "Do what you need to do, you tell me when you are ready". This type of kindness was so unexpected and I am so grateful for his patience. It's something that would *of course* throw a wrench in all his planning because he has to juggle so many staff but he rolled with it. I tell you this because Tom is above all else, a kind hearted, genuine person. I feel you should know that when you hire him, you're hiring someone honest and professional--but also, a gentleman who works with a cadre of wonderful guys. Now: the work! Our bathrooms look SO great! His team was professional and prompt, and Tom kept me updated about what was happening when. He was responsive to my texts and was patient in explaining the issues. When we had an unidentified leak, both he and his project manager, Bob (my mom adored him), were there for hours caulking, testing and trying to get to the bottom of the problem before closing things up. I also adored his electrician, Lou, who was so deft with his work and so patient with all of my mom's weird, lengthy questions (well, they were all patient w/my mom's crazy questions: THANKS TRP!). In short: I talked to 4 contractors and Tom came in at an incredibly reasonable range--considering he has a team of people who will work together to get your job done, the price is more than competitive in my opinion. We had to add on one charge due to the inspector but even as I look at that cost, it was nothing outrageous and I was more or less on budget to what we could spend. I chose Tom given his reviews on here, and the fact that he responded when he told me would (a rare occurrence I think) were very important to me. The job would certainly have been done on time if not for us -- and to be honest, I'll miss chatting with Tom each morning. We would, no doubt, hire Tom again when the time comes--and I know we are recommending him to our friends/neighbors. I encourage you to hire Tom, Bob, John, Lou, Steve et al.! They made my VERY FIRST remodel job a truly pleasant experience. (FYI, my photos are before and afters!)

Building a custom closet costs about $2,000, on average. Because many types, sizes, and designs are available, the cost to build custom closets ranges from $250 to $6,000 or more. You may need a building permit to add a closet, depending on the size and kind of work required to install it. A reach-in closet is a smaller closet that you can stand in front of and reach everything inside it. Aside from the size, the doors and the level of drywall finish are typically the largest price factors.
A walk-in closet can be anything from a small 5-by-5 feet closet that has a narrow walkway with shelves on both sides to a 100 square foot bedroom-sized closet with shelving along the walls and plenty of room to move around in.
A built-in wardrobe often does not have a door and leaves the clothes and other contents open to the room, whereas a closet usually has a door to separate it from the rest of the room.
The main difference between a closet and a wardrobe is that a closet is a separate room for general storage with its own door, and a wardrobe can be either built-in or freestanding place to store clothing. A walk-in or reach-in closet connected to a bedroom often serves the same purpose as a wardrobe by primarily storing clothes and shoes. A built-in wardrobe often does not have doors and leaves clothes exposed to view, whereas a standalone wardrobe usually has doors.

Creating a more useful and pleasing space to your home, especially a custom closet for prospective home buyers to imagine as their own, is likely to increase the value. However, avoid overdoing it with a closet that takes up too much space that’s otherwise more useful as living space, or paying extra for overly lavish materials and finishes that aren’t likely to add more value than they cost.
