My air fryer has become my ultimate kitchen companion. I rely on it for cooking a range of meals, from roasted baby potatoes to chicken fajitas to crispy fried chicken!

Recently, I’ve been using my air fryer to elevate my weekly meal prep by cooking the perfect “hard-boiled” eggs. Though it might require some trial and error.

Air fryer hard-boiled eggs are incredibly easy to make and don’t require any water for cooking, making them a hassle-free option for meal prep or quick snacks. And the fact that they’re easy to peel.

The beauty of air frying is that it cooks eggs evenly and with minimal mess, making meal prep a breeze. I typically keep a dozen in my fridge for quick breakfasts and for my Healthy Egg Salad, Avocado Egg Salad, and Vegetable Cobb Salad.

But the most amazing thing about air-fried eggs is how easy they are to peel. I’ve attempted all sorts of tricks in the past, but these eggs are the simplest to peel by far. It’s almost as if they peel themselves!

Although I’m not sure about the science behind it, I think that the dry hot air circulation and convection inside the air fryer pull the shell from the membrane as they cook.

Making hard-boiled eggs in an air fryer cannot get this easier! You just need to place the eggs in the air fryer basket and turn on the timer and wait until the eggs get fully cooked through. The air-fried eggs turn out amazing and are easy to peel every time.

They are just so simple and quick to make, and now this air-frying egg method has become our go-to recipe.

Why Air Fryer Eggs Are So Good

  • NO Water is required: Making hard-boiled eggs in an air fryer is very easy! Traditionally cooking boiled eggs required water on the stovetop or in an instant pot, but this recipe doesn’t require water at all. So you do not need to pay attention to the eggs, just put the timer on and the air fryer will do its magic!
  • NO shaking or peeping: The best thing about air frying eggs is you don’t need to turn the eggs or shake the basket midway through. Just set the timer and pop into an ice water bath when done.
  • “Boil” a few or many Eggs: I have cooked single and with as many as 6 eggs (max number of eggs I could fit in my air fryer basket) at a time, and every time they turn out perfect. No under or overcooked yolks. And they are very easy to peel, No sticky shells!

Hard-boiled eggs are one of my go-to breakfasts in my home. They are easy and quick to make with just a single ingredient, which is filled with protein. They keep you full all day long and taste great and there are so many ways to prepare, cook and enjoy boiled eggs so they just don’t get boring! Here are a few recipes that you can make with hard-boiled eggs –

Preheat the air fryer to 250 degrees F. You can also skip this step and just add some extra minutes to the cooking time. Set the air fryer timer to 14 to 17 minutes, depending upon your desired doneness.

If you see a few raised spots on the outer shell of the eggs after air frying, that’s just because of hot air circulating rapidly and creating pressure on the eggshells. It’s normal and it does not affect the eggshells and peeled eggs are also safe for eating.

As soon as the eggs are cooked, put the hard-boiled eggs in an ice water bath (a container filled with ice cubes and water). This helps to stop the cooking quickly and makes it easier to peel the boiled eggs. You can just also run the cooked eggs under cold water for a minute or so.

Then peel the eggs and enjoy. I have found that air fryer-boiled eggs are easier to peel.

  • Preheat your air fryer to 250 degrees F or 120 degrees C for 5 to 7 minutes.

  • Gently place the 6 eggs in the air fryer basket in a single layer.

  • Set the timer between 13 (for soft boil eggs) to 18 minutes (for hard-boiled eggs), depending upon your desired doneness.Please refer to your air fryer manual for the correct time and temperature (as temp may vary between air fryers).

  • As soon as the 6 eggs are done, place the hard-boiled eggs in an ice bath( a bowl filled with cold water and ice cubes) for around 8 to 10 minutes.
